:- When we celebrate Teacher's Day , we remember to call our former teachers and appreciate them for their services.  In school,  older students take on the role of teachers . However , we seldom remember the real reason we observe this day : Dr.  Radhakrishnan :-

● 1• One of India's most illustrious 20th century scholars of comparative religion and philosophy , Dr.  Radhakrishnan's academic appointment included the king George Visit Chair of mental and moral science at the University of Calcutta ( kolkata) and Spalding professor of eastern religion and ethics of University of Oxford (1936 - 1952 )



●2• Dr. Radhakrishnan placed Indian philosophy on the world map . He illustrated how western philosophers were prejudiced towards theological influences from their wider culture .He also claimed that Indian Philosophy in the western world .



●3• He was immensely popular among his students .When he was appointed as a professor in the University of Calcutta and was leaving Mysore University , his students arranged and drove him in a flower- decked carriage , from the University to the railway station. 




●4•  He belonged to a humble family with a weak economic background . He came from a  small village on the border of Tamil Nadu Village . and Andhra Pradesh and his father wished for him to become a priest at a temple . However he finished his ( MA ) in philosophy and his first book titled " Indian Philosophy " was a classic and literacy masterpiece. 


●5• As the Vice - President of India,  Radhakrishnan presided over the Rajya Sabha session whenever there were infuriated members , classic or the Bible , calm the heated audience .



●6• When he became the President of India some of his students wished to celebrate his birthday , it would be my proud privilege if 5th September is observed as Teacher's Day .
